Day 1: Cusco β Soraypampa β Salkantay Pass β Huayraq Machay
The Salkantay Trek 4 Days 3 Nights begins with an early departure from Cusco. We drive for 2 hours to the town of Mollepata, where we enjoy breakfast. Then we continue by vehicle for one more hour to Soraypampa, the starting point of the hike.
From Soraypampa, we hike for approximately 3 hours uphill, with gradual sections, until reaching the lunch area. After lunch, we continue hiking for 1 hour to the impressive Salkantay Pass (4,600 m / 15,091 ft), the highest point of the trek.
Later, we descend for 3 hours to our campsite at Huayraq Machay, located at 3,600 meters (11,811 ft) above sea level.

Day 2: Huayraq Machay β Chaullay β La Playa

In the afternoon, we hike for almost 4 hours on mostly flat terrain to La Playa, our campsite for the night, located at 2,000 meters (6,562 ft) above sea level. This area marks the transition from the Andes to the tropical cloud forest.

Afterward, we hike downhill and on flat terrain for about 2 hours and 40 minutes to the Hydroelectric train station (1,800 m / 5,906 ft). From there, we take a 40-minute train ride to Aguas Calientes, where we spend the night in a hotel.
