Inca Quarry Hike to Ollantaytambo – Detailed Trek Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Socma – Rayan – Puccaqasa
On the first day of the Inca Quarry Trek to Machu Picchu, we will pick you up from your hotel at 5:00 AM for a scenic 2-hour drive to the community of Socma, where we will enjoy a delicious gourmet breakfast to energize ourselves before starting the adventure.
Perolniyoc Waterfall
The hike begins with a panoramic walk toward the impressive Perolniyoc Waterfall, a perfect place for photos. After enjoying the view, we will continue hiking for about 1 hour and 30 minutes until we reach the Perolniyoc Archaeological Site, where we will explore its fascinating Inca history and architecture.
Afterward, we will continue hiking for another 2 hours until we reach Rayan (3,700 meters / 12,139 feet), where we will enjoy a comforting lunch and rest before the next stage of the trek.
Toward the First Camp – Above 4,000 meters
After lunch, the most challenging section of the day begins with a 2.5-hour uphill climb to Puccaqasa Pass (4,400 meters / 14,436 feet). From this point, we will enjoy spectacular 360-degree panoramic views of the Andes, making the effort truly worthwhile.
The day ends with a final 30-minute hike to our campsite, where our team will welcome us with hot drinks and appetizers, and our tents will already be set up and ready. We will finish the day with a delicious dinner prepared by our cooking team.

Toward the Highest Point of the Adventure
On the second day of the Inca Quarry Trek to Machu Picchu, you will wake up with a hot cup of tea or coffee served in your tent. Afterward, we will enjoy a healthy breakfast before preparing for the day’s hike.
The day begins with a 2-hour hike leading us to Qoychicassa Pass (4,450 meters / 14,599 feet). From here, we will enjoy spectacular views of valleys and glaciers, perfect for capturing unforgettable photos.
Inti Punku – The Sun Gate
After crossing the pass, we will descend for about 1 hour along steep switchbacks, an exciting part of the trek. The trail then becomes gentler as we continue toward the Inti Punku Archaeological Site (Sun Gate) at 3,900 meters / 12,795 feet. This viewpoint offers incredible views of the valley and the impressive Veronica Glacier.
At Inti Punku, we will take a break to enjoy a gourmet lunch at this stunning archaeological site.
The first section of the descent from here is steep, but the trail soon becomes easier. After approximately 2 hours of hiking, we will arrive at our overnight destination: Veronica View Hotel.
