Itinerary 2- Days Lake Titicaca: Uros Floating Islands, Amantani Homestay & Taquile Island

Day 1 – Puno, Uros Floating Islands and Amantani Homestay

The tour begins in the morning with a boat trip from Puno across the deep blue waters of Lake Titicaca. The first stop is the famous Uros Floating Islands, unique man-made islands constructed from totora reeds.

Here, visitors learn about the traditional lifestyle of the Uros people and how they build and maintain their floating homes and islands. After the visit, the journey continues to Amantani Island, one of the largest and most traditional islands on Lake Titicaca.

Upon arrival, travelers are welcomed by a local family, where they enjoy a traditional homemade lunch and experience the authentic Andean way of life. In the afternoon, there is a hike to the sacred temples of Pachatata or Pachamama, located at the top of the island, offering spectacular sunset views over Lake Titicaca.

In the evening, guests share dinner with the host family and can participate in a traditional cultural gathering with local music and dances.

Day 2 – Taquile Island and Return to Puno

After breakfast with the host family, the journey continues by boat to Taquile Island, one of the most beautiful islands on Lake Titicaca. Taquile is famous for its UNESCO-recognized textile traditions, where local men and women create handmade textiles that represent their cultural identity.

Visitors enjoy a scenic walk across the island with incredible panoramic views of the lake and surrounding Andes mountains. During the visit, travelers learn about the island’s traditional social organization and local customs that have remained unchanged for generations.

After exploring Taquile Island and enjoying lunch with views of Lake Titicaca, the boat returns to Puno in the afternoon, ending this unforgettable cultural experience.
