Your adventure begins with a hotel pickup, followed by a scenic 3-hour drive to the horse departure point. Along the route, you’ll pass charming traditional villages and beautiful eucalyptus forests. Once there, you will enjoy a smooth one-hour horseback ride on a gentle uphill trail.

From the end of the horse trail, a short 20-minute walk takes you to the official viewpoint of Rainbow Mountain. Here, you can take your time to admire the panoramic views and capture amazing photos. After your visit, you walk back down for 20 minutes to meet your horse and then return by car to the city of Cusco.

Itinerary For Horseback Ride To Rainbow Mountain Vinicunca

The time to pick you up is at 4:40 am at your place in Cusco city, and then we ride our private transport for 2 hours to the breakfast place. Afterward, we ride our car for 40 minutes to the beginning of the trail.At the beginning of this trail, we rent our horses, mainly at the bus terminal.

Once we get our horses, we ride for an hour uphill, with some gentle parts until the first viewpoint of the Rainbow Mountain valley.

Then, we still need to hike 25 minutes uphill to the official viewpoint of Rainbow Mountain, named Vinicunca.

After enjoying the views and taking some photos, we will have some time to explore the area. The views include Rainbow Mountain, the snow-capped mountain named Ausangate, and the famous Red Valley.

Time to come back: we will hike downhill for 15 minutes, then ride our horses for 1 hour and 30 minutes to the bus terminal. Then, we ride our car for 35 minutes to the lunch place, and afterward, we ride our private transport back to Cusco city for 2 hours, dropping you off at your place.

Some warm clothes, like a cap for the cold, a scarf, gloves, and a rain jacket.

To confirm your booking, you need to send us a deposit of US$20 through our PayPal account. Please note that PayPal charges a 7% fee on any transfer, which is paid by the sender. For this reason, the total amount you need to send is US$22.
